Background Clinical studies suggest people with Alzheimer's disease (AD) have altered pain sensitivity. Experimental pain research is equivocal. Objective Conduct a meta-analysis to investigate if people with AD have altered pain sensitivity compared to healthy controls (HCs). Methods Three authors searched electronic databases from inception till November 2015 for experimental pain studies in AD vs. HCs. Outcome measures were pain threshold, tolerance, pain ratings, heart rate response to noxious stimuli and the Facial Action Coding System (FACS). Child's death is commonly viewed as the most difficult experience for its parents. This kind of loss and escalation of dismal emotions related to this event allows us to speak of suffering mental pain. Mourning for the loss of child differs significantly from o ther forms of bemoaning; time is rarely a great healer in this case and a sense of void often continues for the entire lifetime. The rangę of emotional relationship with the child is so strong that the childs death is oftentimes interpreted by the parents as the irreversible loss of a tiny part of themselves.
